About the event

Japanese Meal Experience — €55 per person

A six-course plant-based menu with authentic Japanese presentation, by Rumi Kobayashi

inspired by the "Tsubu Tsubu" food philosophy.


*This arrangement is only applicable to Japanese tea ceremony arrangements or workshops.

Menu:

  1. Main Dish: Chirashi-sushi made with millet and soy-based mince — a nourishing, colorful take on the classic dish.


  2. Japanese Side Dishes (choose 3):

    a. Kinpira – Stir-fried root vegetables (e.g., burdock and carrot)

    b. Hijiki Seaweed Salad – With amaranth dressing

    c. Stir-Fried Vegetables – With buckwheatd.

    d. Crispy Fried Dish – Lightly battered and fried (vegetable or plant-based protein)


  3. Miso Soup & Japanese Pickles Served in traditional miso bowls with a selection of homemade pickles.


  4. Dessert A Japanese-inspired sweet course (varies by season)


Japanese-Style Dinnerware Includes:

  • Authentic plating using handmade ceramics by Haruka Matsuo, including:

    • Plates and mame bowls

    • Miso soup bowls

    • Chopsticks and rests

    • Wooden spoons

    • Washi paper placemat

  • Handwritten menu card

  • Rumi’s selected writings on the "Tsubu Tsubu" food philosophy — a method rooted in mindful, grain-based cooking.


Tea arrangement and Tea ware (Optional Add-on) — €12 per person

  • Haruka’s Tea Collection – A curated tasting experience of four unique Japanese teas, served with:

    • Teapots & Teacups

    • Wooden coasters

    • Japanese antique tray for tea serving

    • Expert presentation and pairing with the meal.


Oshibori (Hot Towel Service) — €2.50 per person

A traditional Japanese warm towel (おしぼり) for refreshing hands before the meal.


Additional Information:


  • Travel Costs: €0.30 per km(This is in addition to the meal price, based on the delivery distance. Travel charges are applicable to locations outside a 10 km radius from Hilversum.)

  • Self-Service:Guests will serve the meal themselves, and are also responsible for warming up the miso soup.

  • Ceramic Return Policy:All plates and ceramics must be returned to Mierenmeent 122, Hilversum within 10 days after the meal date. If you need the ceramics to be picked up, there will be a €50 collection fee + travel cost (€0.30 per km).

  • Breakage Policy:If any ceramics are damaged or broken, we will charge the replacement cost as outlined in the appendix.

  • Liability Insurance:Please ensure you have liability insurance in place for your event.
